When we lost Paul Walker 2 years ago in the middle of filming Fast and Furious 7 a great song came out of this tragedy that Charlie Puth had recorded. When they added Wiz Khalifa to the song and made it the main song for the movie it became anthem for us and Scot. The saying holds true for me “It’s been a long day without you my friend (I insert Son here ) And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again! I know one day we will be together again and I will be telling him all about what we’ve been doing in case he has missed any of it.
What also was so special about this song is years ago I had went to a concert in Indianapolis where I was living at the time. I have friends who are in the rap game and Wiz Khalifa was part of their concert I went to, to support them as I did a lot. At that time I had no idea of who he was. My boys have always kept me up on the new up and coming artists. We love music and will sing along and listen to it together even through the phone. Distance has never stopped us from still being Mommie and Son. A couple weeks after this concert Scot calls me and says Mommie you have to hear this guy out of Pittsburg, PA from the underground. He says his name is Wiz Khalifa. I asked him again what his name is because it sounds so familiar to me! He says Wiz Khalifa. I told him hang on and I go find my flyer and low and behold guess who I just saw a couple weeks ago and had no idea who he was. Wiz khalifa! I tell Scot I just saw him at a concert my friends held. It was one of those weird moments. We both started laughing and he played me his song. I don’t remember which one it was but I know I like and was hooked on his music after that. For me it only seemed fitting that Wiz Khalif did this song and again it was a weird moment but also a proud moment that made me cry and happy at the same time. I felt like Scot was talking to me as he often does. Now this is our Wiz Khalifa song and I still cry and smile when I hear the song. I think I always will feel this way.
Thank you so much Wiz Khalifa for your amazing music and giving me the connection I have with my sons because of it!
